The controversy exposed ongoing racial tensions at URI. It was one of the biggest demonstrations I had ever seen at the University. I was one of the lucky ones I guess as I was on the left side of the door to Carlotti though yes it was still traumatic. But looking back no one in administration was listening and the students caused some good trouble that helped to wake URI up.
